Arts Council of the Valley (ACV) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit committed to creating opportunities for Harrisonburg and Rockingham County residents and visitors to come together through experiencing the arts. When you donate to ACV, your tax-deductible gift helps harness the power of the arts to create community. The continued success of our programs depends on the support of those who enjoy them – people like you!
ACV is supported in part by the City of Harrisonburg and the Virginia Commission for the Arts. While governmental funding accounts for 17% of ACV’s operating budget, the bulk of the remainder is provided by generous business sponsorships and individual donations.
We strive every day to keep operating costs to a minimum, ensuring your investment in the arts is returned to the community through programs designed to enhance access to high quality arts experiences: Advancing the Arts Grants, First Fridays of the Valley, Public Art Initiatives, and Smith House Galleries.
Your $1,500 donation can fund an Advancing the Arts Grant for an artist or art educator, impacting hundreds of lives.
A gift of $500 can help underwrite the cost of promoting the First Fridays of the Valley monthly art experience.
Smaller gifts add up: Four $50 donations help keep the lights shining on artwork at Smith House Galleries each month.
Since it was established in 2000 ACV has worked to expand access to the arts in the City of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, fostering innovative partnerships among area businesses, civic organizations, schools, and artists. Along the way, ACV has served as an incubator for Explore More Discovery Museum and Any Given Child Shenandoah Valley. Gifts of support – throughout the year – are instrumental in keeping the arts alive and thriving in our community.
