Internship Opportunities

Arts Council of the Valley (ACV) is pleased to offer an internship program offering rich, hands-on educational experiences for undergraduate students. Interns are welcomed into the ACV team working to promote arts engagement in a professional gallery and downtown theater. ACV generally accepts one intern per semester, for a maximum of 160 hours in Event Planning, Fundraising, Gallery Assistant, Graphic Design, Marketing and Communications, Nonprofit Administration, Office Operations, and/or Theater Operations.

Although ACV internships are unpaid, we are happy to work with undergraduate institutions so that you may receive academic credit.

What Can I Expect?

As an intern, you will learn the many day-to-day processes, community initiatives, and outreach programs of an arts nonprofit. Interns wear many hats, and responsibilities can range from aiding with gallery and theater event preparation to special research projects (public art, art grants, community art festivals) to general administrative duties. All interns can expect a fast-paced, rigorous, skill-building internship experience that will provide valuable insight into the nonprofit world.

Semester-long internships are based on a minimum of six hours per week, with a preference for two three-hour blocks of office time weekly. However, ACV works with each intern to determine an appropriate schedule, based on academic demands.

Am I Eligible?

ACV internships are open to all undergraduate students of any major.

Preference is given to candidates who have: general computer skills (and a laptop to use during the internship); experience with MicroSoft and Google applications (documents and spreadsheets); as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.

Internship applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with the following deadlines:

Summer: March 1
Fall Semester: July 1
